This is a vintage Japanese tea bowl of Satsuma Ware, which was made by a famous potter, Tessho Nagata about 30 years ago.
Colorful flowers are hand-painted on the body.
The signature of "SATSUMA" is written on the bottom. The original wooden box with the signature of his kiln name is also included.
Satsuma ware originated when the Shimazu prince of the Satsuma domain in southern Kyushu abducted skilled Korean potters after Toyotomi Hideyoshi's Japanese Invasions of Korea to establish a local pottery industry. After display at the international exhibition in Paris in 1867, it proved popular as an export to Europe.
