Japan's imperial capital until 1868, its name even now is synonymous with that country's art and civilization. Besides being a gigantic open-air museum of art and architecture, it is also a place of pilgrimage for religious contemplation, a treasure house of Japanese antiques and traditional arts and crafts, a modern centre of commerce and communications, and above all a lively place to live for its million and a half residents. Kyoto Woodcuts presents all these aspects, interpreted by one of the city's most gifted daughters."
The book is in very good condition, as is the signed woodcut. There is a multi-signed previous owner's gift inscription to the ffep. The dustwrapper is very good, with light tanning to the edges.
