  • For your consideration is a marvelous antique Raj India candle sconce, made from an Ostrich egg and solid hand-tooled high grade silver
  • Superb Kashmiri repousse ornamentation throughout
  • The candle holder bowl is a stylized floral bloom
  • Reticulated back plate
  • It was intended and made to hold a candle, never electrified
  • Antique, second half of the 19th century. Indo-British, intended for the European market

  • Measurements: Approx. 13" tall overall x 9" deep; 7.5" diameter of the back plate
  • Weighs about 952 grams or 2 lbs. 1 1/2 oz. altogether

  • Condition: Very Good overall. Please see photos below. All original. Silver parts exhibit beautiful noble patination, developed over time. The ostrich egg has a crack as pictured and small pieces missing at the joint with the base. Of course, with simple tooling, it can be replaced or repaired. Displays exceptionally well nevertheless!
