This is an original GM aluminum bellhousing for manual transmission cars. The casting number is 3788421. The 3788421 bellhousing was used exclusively in the 1963 model year on Corvettes and Chevrolet fullsize cars. It is unique due to the smaller 4 1/8 inch transmission mounting hole that was unique to the 1963 model year. Many of these bellhousings had the center hole enlarged over the years. Finding a nice unmolested original unit has become more difficult by the year. Don't miss this nice example.
This bellhousing is in good original condition overall as shown. It is in bare aluminum finish with no paint or coatings. There is also no pitting or corrosion. All threads are in very good shape with no thread inserts or helicoils. The bellhousing still rings like a bell. This bellhousing would be right at home on the nicest of cars. These used to be pretty easy to find. Finding a "421" bellhousing that hasn't been altered, repaired, sand blasted, etc. if a very difficult task today. Don't miss this awesome survivor bellhousing.
