This is a lovely demitasse cup and saucer. Made by Minton in the Cheviot Gold pattern. The cups are ivory with a swirled scalloped design, gold laurel on the inside, gold on the rim and handle. The saucer has a swirled scalloped design, gold laurel around the center, and gold on the rim. These would be a great way to serve coffee, tea, or espresso.

A demitasse is a small cup used to serve Turkish coffee or espresso. Demitasse is the french word for half cup.

Minton China Company was started in 1793. It started producing bone china in 1799. The founder of the company was Thomas Minton. Minton China today is owned by WWRD Holdings Limited. It also produces other china brands including Wedgwood, Royal Albert, Royal Doulton and Johnson Brothers.
