A very rare piece of glazed stone, rare and exclusive Pharaonic amulets...

..

Astateite stone is a type of talc. It is usually white or gray in color and sometimes it is smoky black. This last type is natural and not artificial as some people think. It has a texture like soap. It was used from the pre-dynastic era onwards to make beads and other small things56 that were coated with a layer of  Glass, and most of the scarabs known in the world are made of painted steatite. This stone is found near Aswan57 in Wadi al-Humar, and in Jebel Fatira58 which is at the latitude of Tahta near the Nile, and in Wadi Golan, north of Ras Banares, and it is now exploited.
