Victorian Black Beaded Sequin Pleated Net Lace Long Bell Sleeve Ball Gown Bodice Top

This antique Victorian era black beaded sequin pleated net lace long bell sleeve ball gown bodice top dates from 1890. It is made of a black silk fabric with black sequin beaded accents, a black sheer Swiss dot polka dot net and a Tenerife style cutwork needle lace woven circular scaffolds of thread pattern lace trim. This beautiful black beaded ball gown bodice has a short cropped off the shoulders style with a rounded scoop neckline trimmed with a unique black lace circular pattern layered ruffle flounce collar, pleated sheer net long full flared wide butterfly bell sleeves with lace trimmed cuff edging, an attached wide silk cummerbund belt, hook closures down the front and is fully lined with stays, boning sewn inside. The top measures 13 inches long, with a 36 inch chest, 28 inch waist, 20 inch long sleeves and a 15 inch back. It is in good as-is condition, with some alterations done to make it larger with an added black silk crepe fabric piece gusset sewn onto the front, snap closure added, fraying along the silk edging of the belt and some loose lace trim edging the neckline (see close-ups). Great for upcycling, restoration or design, the dramatic sleeves are in excellent condition. This is truly a wonderful piece of antique Victoriana wearable art!
