This old Timepiece, may be of interest to an enthusiast or collector, but does require work
The solid silver Case that is in decent condition has Hallmarkes for London 1831, Hinge and Bow fine, the crystal is loose
Key wound from the front, the Verge movement is in need of attention, the Chain is present, and the Balance swings, the movement is signed Jn Bates Kettering, the pierced Balance cock with its disguised ugly gargoyle
The Face is in good condition no chips or hairline cracks
A worthwhile project for the enthusiast to return it to its original condition
It measures 2.140 inches diameter excluding the Bow

Taken from Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World by Brian Loomes

JN Bates,  was active in Kettering Market Place, later High Street,1830 -1865
