1890s Antique Apothecary Bottle Jar Sarsaparilla Label Under Glass Fay&Schueler

Offered for your consideration is this Antique 1890's F&S (Fay & Schueler Co) Salt Mouth Apothecary Jar with SYR. SARSAP. CO. (Sarsaparilla Syrup) Label Under Glass. It features 1 oval and 3 flat sides and recessed area across front oval side with bottom embossed “ PAT'D MARCH 6TH, 1894 | F & S | ST. LOUIS, MO”  It measures 10-1/4" high with the ground stopper (9" without it) x 3-1/2" wide x 3-1/2" deep & weighs in at 1 lb 13.6 oz. Outside mouth rim diameter is 1-15/16" and opening is 1".  Bottle was blown in a two-piece mold with diagonal seams. The stopper is solid with indentations made in a three-piece mold.
The external surface have been wiped down but we have avoided cleaning in and around the label area and internal area has not been cleaned. Label composition behind the glass is yellowing & showing age. The glass label in front is all there but it does have a crack that runs under the lettering see photo #4 for the best visual. At the bottom of photo #1 and the last photo is the group shot of what we had. If it is not listed on this site that means we have already sold it.

SYR. SARSAP. CO: Sarsaparilla is a root that grows in the hills and forests of the Ozarks. It’s naturally sweet with a distinctly earthy flavor. This root has been used for decades to make root beer.

Herman William Fay and Richard J. Schueler were partners in the F&S Co that manufactured druggist glassware, labels, porcelain drawer pulls, etc.
