Victorian Black Silk Lace Trimmed Leg of Mutton Sleeve Bodice Skirt Mourning Dress

This antique Victorian era black silk lace trimmed leg of mutton sleeve bodice skirt mourning dress dates from 1890. It is made of a black silk fabric with ruched gathering smocking around the top and black lace soutache passementerie trim on the sleeves. This black mourning dress has a bodice blouse top with a pouter pigeon full front curtain panel drape, leg of mutton style sleeves with puffed gathered shoulders lace trimmed fitted cuffs, a fitted waistband, hook closures down the back and is lined in a white silk fabric inside. The top measures 17 inches long, with a 34 inch chest, 24 inch waist, 24 inch long sleeves and a 14 inch back. There is a matching fabric, long floor length full skirt with some pin tuck pleated details, hook closures on the back and is unlined. The skirt measures 38 inches long, with a 25 inch waist and 46 inch hips. It is in good condition, with a small mended repair on the front skirt waistband (see close-up). It is truly a wonderful piece of antique Victoriana mourning wearable art!
