THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE

"ARE YOU EXPERIENCED
&
AXIS BOLD AS LOVE"

THIS LP IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND HARD TO FIND! THIS IS ONE OF JIMI HENDRIX RAREST LPs AS THE BARCLAY BLACK LABEL WAS USED FOR A SMALL NUMBER OF EXPORTS AND SOLD IN SMALL QUANTITIES AND DOESN'T COME UP FOR SALE OFTEN PARTICULARLY IN NEAR MINT CONDITION.

BARCLAY RECORDS HAD THE RIGHTS FOR JIMI HENDRIX IN FRANCE BUT NOT FOR THE COVERS AND DECIDED TO RE RELEASE ALL THE OFFICIAL RECORDS OF JIMI HENDRIX IN FRANCE AS DOUBLE LPS COMMISSIONING THE COVERS TO COMIC DRAWING LEGENDS AND THESE WERE NEVER RELEASED ANYWHERE IN THE REST OF THE WORLD.  THIS WAS RENAMED SUNS AND RAINBOW AND HAD A DIFFERENT COVER “VOODOO SOUP” DESIGNED BY MOEBIUS AND THE INSIDE COVER WITH PHOTO BY JEAN PIERRE LELOIR AND MISPRINT CREDIT.

BARCLAY PRODUCED A SMALL AMOUNT OF COPIES FOR EXPORT TO THE US WITH BLACK DESIGNED LABELS ADDING TO ITS RARITY.

PLEASE SEE MY OTHER ITEMS AS I WILL LISTING MOST OF THE JIMI HENDRIX OFFICIAL DISCOGRAPHY IN THE HIGHLY COLLECTABLE RARE FRENCH BARCLAY PRESSINGS.

BARCLAY records 80581 / 80582
Double LP – 1975 - France

Also known as VOODOO Soup it was drawn by the legendary cult comic artist Moebius from a photograph of Hendrix eating soup in France, it captures the sound Hendrix was moving toward at the end of his life - his head exploding in flames, or mushroom clouds, or pink psychedelic bronchial tubes, or whatever.

The double vinyl has been played and is graded visually in near mint minus condition for sides 1, 3 & 4 and in near mint condition for side 2.

Please see below a description of grades and note that this vinyl is 49 years old that has been played and will not transform into anything different to the condition stated.

The Black export labels are in excellent condition.

The ULTRA RARE Gatefold Cover illustrated by Moebius
with the missprint "Castels mad of sand" instead of "made" is in excellent condition with corner and edge wear. The inside sleeve has the unique French colour photograph by Jean Pierre Leloir.

The spine is in excellent condition with edge wear.

Photos are of the actual item.

Visually-graded vinyl: A visual grading will identify physical flaws (such as scratches) and can help determine whether a record has been cared-for properly. A visual grading will not identify noise or crackle caused by non-visible sources. Most of the records I sell are between thirty and sixty years old and so it is likely that there may be some background noise even if they look perfect.

Play-grading MONO records: Mono records and stereo records have different grooves. A stereo record produces a stereo sound via both lateral and vertical groove modulation whereas a mono record is not intended to produce any sound from vertical modulation. Playing a mono record with a stereo cartridge will create distortion because it is trying to pick-up the vertical (stereo) part of the signal, whereas this is not intended to be heard on a mono record and so is just noise.  Using a pre-amp with a mono switch will eliminate the noise caused by vertical modulation leaving just the lateral groove signal which is how the record was intended to be heard. If you do not have a mono switch on your amp or pre-amp you will be reproducing the noise from the vertical part of the signal and so the record will not sound as good. This is not any fault of the record, it is inherent to playing any mono record through a system that it was not designed for.
