Vintage Chinese Cheongsam Emerald Green Gold Lame Orchid Brocade Qipao Dress

This vintage Chinese cheongsam emerald green gold lame orchid brocade qipao dress dates from the 1940s. It is made of an emerald green color silk and gold lame luxurious damask weave brocade fabric with a woven orchid flower design which is a symbol of love, beauty, wealth, fortune. This beautiful brocade dress Westernized Chinese cheongsam qipao has a fitted hourglass style, with side slit vents, a high mandarin collar, short sleeves, green gold silk decorative pankou knotted toggle closures, a side zipper with snap closures along the front neckline and is fully lined in a jade green color silk fabric. The dress measures 39 inches long, with a 36 inch chest, 26 inch waist, 36 inch hips, 15 inch back and a 14 inch neck. Manchu women early on wore a loose fitting one-piece dress which were called "qipao", transforming later to the more form fitting style "Mandarin Gown" popular in Shanghai during the 1920s-1940s becoming more influenced by Western fashion and fabrics. It is in excellent condition. This is truly a wonderful handmade fully lined custom made piece of Westernized Chinese cheongsam wearable art!
