This is an original press photo. Chairman David W. Mitchell seeks productivity rise. Avon's calling, and those Avon chimes keep sounding the same old tune. A little over two years ago, when Avon made headlines by buying Tiffany & Co. for $104 million in stock, David W. Mitchell, chairman and chief executive of Avon Products Incorporated, called the Fifth Avenue retailer "a unique and rare merchandising situation." Two management upsets later, Tiffany remains pretty much as it was - a potential sparkler, as yet unset in the Avon empire. Photo measures 6.25 x 8 inches. Photo is dated 09-08-1981.
