A “pantomime” book, Something So Familiar eschews dialog and narration. Relying instead on images and editing to tell the story, Xeric-winner Alex Cahill’s poignant drama about a wrenching loss leaves much to the imagination. The black and white illustration’s heavy ink work mirrors the grim emotional circumstances surrounding the book’s protagonist.
