The 606th Air Commando Squadron was a unit of the United States Air Force (USAF) that served during the Vietnam War. The squadron was activated in 1966 and was assigned to the 14th Air Commando Wing, which was based at Nha Trang Air Base in South Vietnam.

The 606th Air Commando Squadron flew a variety of aircraft, including the C-47 Skytrain, the C-123 Provider, and the C-130 Hercules. The squadron was primarily responsible for conducting airlift and airdrop missions, delivering supplies and personnel to remote locations throughout South Vietnam.

In addition to their airlift and airdrop missions, the 606th Air Commando Squadron also provided combat support to ground forces, conducting tactical air support and close air support missions. The squadron also conducted reconnaissance missions, providing vital intelligence to US and South Vietnamese military planners.

During their deployment to Vietnam, the 606th Air Commando Squadron suffered significant losses, with 33 aircraft and 68 crewmembers lost in combat. Despite these losses, the squadron played a crucial role in the war effort, providing critical support to ground forces and conducting vital missions throughout South Vietnam.

The 606th Air Commando Squadron was deactivated in 1971, following the withdrawal of US forces from Vietnam. The squadron received numerous awards and commendations for their service, including the Presidential Unit Citation and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Combat "V" Device.
