This week I'll be updating my website with 12-15 Nixon photographs from his, and mine collection. Prices will be higher than on eBay as they are some of the rarest, and others that only a few are available for sale.

Jeff Nixon - Sierra Peaks from Electra Peak Original 4"x5" Contact Photograph

Looking online, this must have really been a hike to have made this photograph.
I'm dating this image was printed in the early 1990's by the photographer's stamp on the back, most likely taken in the 1980's.

Titled on the back in Nixon's hand.

GALLERY GONE WILD PRICING

*****
Jeff Nixon (1952-2022) began photographing in the late 1960's, and by the end of the millennium had acquired an impressive list of credentials; many years as a year-round resident of Yosemite Valley, noted instructor in the techniques of black and white photography which he gleaned from his years of working with Ansel Adams, and learning the Zone System from the Master himself. Jeff had been an instructor for two California Junior Colleges, Modesto and Columbia, has led Extension Courses for UC Santa Cruz and UC Berkeley, and taught and lectured in numerous seminars and classes.

Jeff taught workshops and had many showings nationwide, working with Morley Baer, Chris Rainier, Rod Dresser, and John Sexton as either field or darkroom assistant. He was also the Production and Research Assistant for the Ansel Adams Publishing Rights Trust, Carmel Highlands, from 1990 to 1995.

Jeff made the Monterey Peninsula his home, finding great inspiration and subject matter to keep his photography energized. Jeff’s work is represented in a number of Private Collections, as well as several Museums and Galleries, such as the Levin Gallery in Monterey. Jeff was very active with his own photography up until his death in August of 2022, and has found great assistance through his business contacts and contemporaries. His work had branched out to include various forms of Commercial Work, Interior Design, and Product Photography.

Hopefully you will agree with the words of Virginia Adams from 1993..."I have had the great pleasure of recently viewing a portfolio of photographs by Jeff Nixon. I found his work very satisfying . Jeff has been a friend of mine, and was of Ansel’s, for many years. Jeff has a marvelous eye, and combines that with excellent craftsmanship. I highly recommend Jeff’s photographs! I know they will provide you with a true sense of the Sierra… a defined sense of place!”.... Virginia Adams, Carmel Highlands, CA

Please note that the actual image size is slightly different than the paper size listed above as this darkroom made photograph was handmade and may have required some custom cropping.

The photo(s) shown (less the article and obit) are of the item(s) offered for sale. If you see any discrepancy in the title, specifics, etc., please let me know.

WHAT IS "GALLERY GONE WILD PRICING"?

I've recently turned 70 and been thinking a lot about what a great life I've had, and to have made it this far. Will I still be selling photographs 30 years from now, God only knows, but it's doubtful. Will I be selling over the next 10 years, I'm hopeful. In the coming months I plan to redo my website, add many more photographs to my two Etsy stores, and sell sell sell lots and lots here on eBay.
