Antique 1848-1859 Bennington Pottery Croup Kettle Rockingham Glazed Infuser


  • For your consideration is an interesting and very rare Bennington Pottery item
  • An infuser aka Croup kettle - a kettle for the production of steam or medicated vapor for treating croup or bronchitis
  • An identical piece is catalogued and described in "Bennington Pottery and Porcelain" by R. C. Barret, Bonanza Books New York, 1958 , pg. 113 plate #159
  • Baluster form with footed base displaying the characteristic Bennington spotted yellow and brown slip glaze, aka Rockingham glaze 
  • Originally it had also a lid with a little chimney on top, made from the same material, which is not available now, as well as rubber hoses
  • Circa 1849-1859, American

  • Measurements: Approx. 6" tall x 5.25" widest diameter (across)
  • Weighs about 1 lb. 12 oz.

  • Condition: Very Good overall. Please see photos. There is old cork still remaining in the spout. The lid is missing.
