1962 Press Photo Blacksmith John Sanders works a glowing metal stake into shape
This is an original press photo. Blacksmith John Sanders, 67, worked a glowing metal stake into the shape he wanted. He explained why few young men entered his vanishing trade: "There's lot of work to be done by blacksmiths, but it takes quite a bit of capital to start a shop. Years ago, a man could start with an anvil, a forge, a few tools and a supply of iron for making horseshoes." Photo measures 6.75 x 11 inches. Photo is dated 7-11-1962.
