By creating the fastest products for the fastest athletes in the world, Puma has been promoting sport and culture from the start. For more than 70 years, we have drawn strength and credibility from our sporting heritage. In 1919, the brothers Rudolf and Adolf Dassler took the first step in a long history characterized by performance and speed: In their home town of Herzogenaurach in Germany, they founded the Gebrüder Dassler shoe factory. Five years later, in 1924, they moved to their first factory. Back then they had no idea that they were laying the foundation for the world capital of sports shoes. Initially there were many other, smaller shoe factories in Herzogenaurach. However, most of them did not survive the 1950s and 60s. Things should be different for the Dasslers. They celebrated their first successes after just a short time. At the Summer Olympics in Amsterdam in 1928, the majority of German athletes competed in Dassler spikes. Further awards followed at short intervals: seven gold and five bronze medals for the world-class athletes wearing Dassler shoes. The first records were also broken: two world and five Olympic records. This is how the Dasslers achieved their national and international breakthrough. 28 years after the Dassler brothers' shoe factory was founded, the brothers separated in a dispute. Rudolf Dassler moved into another building owned by the family, converted the warehouse into a factory together with his 14 employees and founded his own company: The “Sportschuhfabrik Rudolf Dassler (RUDA)” was registered as a company in January 1948 and took up business a few months later , on the 1st June 1948, operations ceased. It took another four months until the Puma brand was born: on January 1st. In October 1948, “ Puma ” was registered with the German trademark and patent office. In December 1948, Rudolf Dassler finally announced his decision to name the company “ Puma Schuhfabrik Rudolf Dassler” in a letter to partners and customers. She was born on the 14th. Entered in the German commercial register in January 1949. In 1958, another company logo was patented: The Formstrip, originally intended to stabilize the foot in shoes, was now a PUMA trademark and can be seen on almost Allen the brand's shoes. With the advent of mass media, the timing of the launch couldn't have been more appropriate: thanks to television and print media, the Puma Formstrip could be seen all over the world see. The Puma Speedcat represented our long-standing relationship with motorsport. The design was created in 1998 as a fireproof pad for Formula 1 drivers. Thanks to its innovative, elegant and understated appearance, highlighted by the characteristic embroidered big cat logo, the Speedcat quickly became a classic fashion attribute. We have always been one of the TOP suppliers of racing clothing and merchandise in Formula 1 and have contracts with the best teams: Scuderia Ferrari (2004), Mercedes-AMG F1 (2012) and Red Bull Racing (2015).
