4.4" polished Petrified Wood branch from Madagascar.  This slab is cut from the log of a petrified tree.  The original cells of wood have been naturally replaced by Silica (Quartz).  The outside ring shows the original fossilized rough bark of the wood.  The top side is polished to a smooth finish to show off the fantastic colors and growth patterns of this fossilized specimen which is over 50 million years old.  The unpolished base of the piece is cut flat allowing the piece to stand on its own, great for display.  Piece weighs over 2 lbs.  A great piece for display, collection and study.
