* KALAN Label 30th Anniversary Archive Series Early recordings of Armenian music appear in a super luxurious binding! A limited edition edition produced by the Turkish traditional music label "KALAN" to commemorate its 30th anniversary. It
is a valuable anthology of early recordings of Armenian music from the SP record collection of 5,000 sheets held by Armenian-American oud player Ala Dinkzian.
From SP records recorded for the Armenian community in Anatolia who emigrated to the United States around 1915 due to the Armenian Genocide, the voices of the oud player Woody Frand, the singer/violinist Vartan Margossian, and other singers who are hardly known in Japan, It contains 58 pieces of Armenian music of various popular times at the time, including recordings by Duduc and Carnoon musicians.
In addition to presenting the cultural background of the time and introductions to the artists (with photographs of their faces) in both English and Turkish, the SP label photographs of all the songs and the precious photographs of Armenian life and the orchestra are compiled into a gorgeous book.
In terms of learning about the history of Almemian music, it can be said that it is a work of high documentary value.
