16mm film HERBIE HOWELL auditions his original song COME AND STAY WITH ME for record producer SHELBY SINGLETON in this 15 minute segment of the 1972 film THE NASHVILLE SOUND. This film was shot in Nashville in 1969 for the annual birthday celebration of The Grand Ole Opry. Howell has driven from Georgia to try and get some of his songs heard. He has all of his equipment in his VW Bug and sets up in front of Singleton and a few others and performs a nice little song and talks with Ralph Emery about his aspirations to make it in Nashville. Also in this reel you see Glen Campbell golfing and brief interviews with Porter Wagoner, Minnie Pearl, Sonny James, Ronnie Prophet and Mayf Nutter.
