Vintage Stanley Rule & Level sliding bevel square wooden handle brass fittings.  Reads Stanley Rule & Level, New Britain, Conn, and Pat. 9-6-04.  Measures 10 5/8" fully extended to 8 3/4"  Made in the USA.   I don't clean items I leave the original Patina on it.
