Wonderful 1880s dress in a gold and champagne silk. The bodice has gone through many changes, the neckline and sleeves were altered over time, the original sleeves being cut off and she replaced them with the pleated trim from the back of her skirt, she had also changed the back of the skirt to make it hang differently by adding that v shaped insert as well as added another panel in the side of the bodice for a bigger waist, all very interesting and adds to the story of this piece. She changed the functionality as well as the occasion of the dress in doing so. The skirt does definitely need stabilization work at the waist, stains and weak areas throughout the top part of the skirt but this is definitely a piece worth saving.
