This is a solid United States Civil War Union Army waste belt plate. It has been stored in a protective box since it was acquired from the museum The reverse of the plate has the puppy paw hooks. The plate displays a very nice chocolate brown patina. It was recovered in Reynolds Woods on McPherson Ridge in Gettysburg.


The Ridge of the discovery was named after Union 1st Corp Commander General John Reynolds. He was killed near this location on the first day of the battle of Gettysburg.


This belt plate was originally in the collection of the Gettysburg Museum of History and was acquired by the seller when decision was made to deaccession the item. It comes with a COA signed by Mr. Eric Dorr, then curator of the Gettysburg Museum of History. This is a very special artifact for any serious Civil War or military collector.
