VNT: PEARSONS OF CHESTERFIELD SMALL KITCHEN UTENSILS JAR

Pearson & Co have been producing stoneware in Derbyshire since 1810 when an existing pottery was acquired by Catherine Pearson.

Best known for their early bottles and jars, Pearson's Pottery recreated their tradtional Victorian glazed stoneware during the sixties to capture the fashion trend of upcycling granny's furniture.

Far from the mid-century modern of the fifties, the flower-power people prefered to paint old brown furniture purple or orange.

This time, the Chesterfield-based pottery utilised the revived Victorian poster type to label their jars - including such-forgotten gems as beef and porking dripping. Simple black line illustrations adorned some of the pottery, and flan dishes included recipes.

At the same time they also revived their Treacle glaze wares as well, with a range of oven-to-tablewares.
