VINTAGE 3 PC. made in SHEFFIELD for Christopher Marshall CARVING SET MADE OF Casein or Galalith ( an early plastic like Bakelite) WITH stainless steel fork, sharpener and knife For auction this week we have this beautiful SHEFFIELD CARVING SET . The set consists of a 12" carving knife with stainless blade, meat fork with a flip-up guard to protect from knife slippage, AND SHARPENER and presentation case. Each piece has a gorgeous white plastic like handle which is casein ( I think ). Knife is signed "Sheffield England". The blades are stainless steel or plate. The knife blade is engraved with the "Arth Brearley Stainless. They come in a very nice presentation case, covered in blue leatherette with a hinged lid. The inside is lined with a nice creamy colored satin. and black velveteen.. The set probably dates mid 1900s. The handles are strong and sturdy with no looseness. No age cracks. They have been enjoyed as you can see from the knife. The knife blade is sharp, has surface marks from sharpening. The case is in very good condition. Very clean inside and out. The lid fits well.
