Very Rare Bernard Moore Early
20th Cent 1905-1910 Red Flambé Diakokan Figurine
This fantastic figurine was
created by the ceramicist Bernard Moore renowned for pottery with flambé transmutation
glazes. Following a career with his father and brother in china manufacturing
Moore sold his business in 1905 to set up a small factory in Wolfe Street,
Stoke-on-Trent. Along with his son, he specialized in the production of pottery
with flambé glazes until closure in 1915. He became a consultant ceramicist to
Royal Doulton for their flambe flambé range of the period.
This small piece is called Diakokan,
short in stature and slightly “Grotesque” in appearance with bulging glass like
eyes he appears dressed in Far Eastern apparel. The underside is impress
understamped “MOORE”. He is from a series of three slip cast grotesques
produced by the Moore factory.

damage, or faults to report, free of chips, cracks and crazing. The photos form
