Handpainted bisque decorative stoneware dish from Italy. VERY MINOR DEFECTS consisting of two or three millimeter wide or less chips, but they are barely even noticable. It measures 10.5" x 10.5". Near perfect condition. The plate depicts a man on a horse walking through what must be Calabria, an area in Southern Italy with mountains and an arid climate, hence the cactus pictured. Meticulously painted and beautifully sculpted impressions, it shows all the classic motifs of Italian ceramics in its beauty. The plate reads "Ricordo~Di~Vallefiorita", which roughly translates to "memory of the valley" or "vallefiorita". On the bottom inscribed is Calabria, the setting of this plate. On the back it is marked "Brevettato Vietata La ???", unfortunately after close inspection I genuinely have no idea what the last word reads. Also featured is "Dipinto a Mano" painted on the back, which translates to "Painted by Hand". I can't find a surplus of information on this piece but I do know it was manufactured in the 1970s and has remained in spectacular condition. Thank you and feel free to inquire about anything else! <3
