1938 Press Photo Sweden's Crown Prince Gustaf Adolf makes Philadelphia address.
This is an original press photo. Crown Prince Praises American Swedes: This happy smile hid all traces of the painful kidney ailment that had confined Crown Prince Gustaf Adolf of Sweden to his stateroom of the liner Kungsholm for several days, causing him to miss the Swedish-Finnish Festivities. However, on June 28 at Philadelphia, he telephoned an amplified address dedicating the Swedish-American Historical Museum. He said the museum would "stand as a tribute to the heroism of the great number of Swedes who left their homeland to create a new country." He was to make a trip to New York City for a medical examination. Photo measures 7.25 x 9 inches. Photo is dated 1938.
