Antique Chinese Black Silk Embroidered Bird Butterfly Robe Sleeve Band Cuff Pair

This pair of antique Chinese black silk embroidered bird butterfly robe sleeve band cuffs date from the late 19th century during the Qing Dynasty. They are made of a black silk fabric, with multi colored silk raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work of birds, butterflies, flowers, crane roundels and auspicious symbols of good fortune along the edging. This matching pair of long wide embroidered silk bands would have been used on a Manchu robes wide sleeve cuff for added decoration and symbolism. They have an attached paper tag with a red wax seal on the back. Each band measures 30 inches long and 9 inches wide. They are in good condition, with only some slight fraying along the ends (see close-up). This is truly a wonderful one of a kind piece of antique Chinese textile embroidery art!
