Offered is this Griswold Manufacturing Company. size number 12 cast iron skillet, with large block logo and inset, raised heat ring, circa 1920 to 1930. A good reference is found on page 13 of The Book of Griswold & Wagner (blue book). Pan bottom is impressed marked GRISWOLD (with large block logo) ERIE PA., U.S.A., / 12 (size no.) / CAST IRON SKILLET and 719 (pattern no.). Its size no. 12 is also impressed on top of the base of its handle. The pan rim measures 13-5/16 inches in diameter, standing 2-5/16 inches tall. It measures 14-1/4 inches from spout to spout and 18-13/16 inches long from end of handle across the pan. It's weight is 6 pounds 9.8 ounces.

This skillet is in excellent condition with very light use. Its raised heat ring is slightly uneven, causing a very slight wobble. A single bicycle playing card is too thick to slide under the uneven area of the heat ring. The pan bottom has no detectable warping. The brown spot seen on the cooking surface is a puddle of vegetable shortening which was baked on during the seasoning process. It will blend in with use. This pan has been thoroughly cleaned by electrolysis and baked seasoned with vegetable shortening. This gives it a dry, non-stick surface that is safe for cooking and helps prevent oxidation. There are no chips, cracks or rust.
