Here is my long loved 1980 1.3 manual 5 door. I have owned this car for 9 years now and its always been my pride and joy! Every time I look I don't want to sell it but the time has come
A lot of imagination, thought and time has gone in over the years as I will explain below. Reason for the sale is I have two new projects that take my time and attention.
Throughout the years I think I've gone through pretty much everything essential either fixing or replacing. Everything works the only one thing that doesn't is the clocks which stopped at 94,000. I have driven a top end of 10,000 miles since owning. It was rarely driven over the years as its always been a second vehicle and summer toy of mine.
Over the past few years I have had the shell, bonnet, doors and tailgate stripped back to bare metal. Any rust was cut out and plated where necessary then the whole car resprayed.
The car is absolutely solid. Its my own custom build with flared arches bolted and fabricated on. The original arches have been cut out to accommodate the stance over the 8/8.5J banded steels.
It's lowered on coilovers all round and runs a stainless steel custom straight through pipe rather than the original.
The inside features an alpine head unit and alpine door card speakers to match. Window winders, gear stick and type 1 steering wheel all wolfsberg edition kit. Steering wheel is very rare to come across now fetching a tone of money alone!
The original seats were in poor condition so I had them professionally re upholstered in a grey/black tweed with blue pipping and blue headrest. The headrest is embroided with the wolfsburg logo.
The engine itself I had completely stripped down and rebuilt. All usual rebuild components fitted new. This includes water pump and hoses, timing belt and fan belt, oil filter and gasket set ect. Over time I have replaced battery, alternator, starter motor, fuel pump which is now an electric one. Lastly it runs a single webber carb and it runs a treat.
A lot of time, love and of course money has been given to the car over the years. Its a huge head turner and an absolute joy to own. The car is show ready and perfect for summer
