Description: Circa 1618 - 8 REALES "Rill Cove" Shipwreck Silver Treasure Coin w/COA

Circa 1618 - 8 REALES "Rill Cove" Shipwreck Silver Treasure Coin w/COA This silver 8 "Reales" coin also known as a "Cob", came from the fabled ‘Lizard Silver Wreck’ at Rill Cove, an unknown vessel which sank around 1616. Much effort has been spent over the past 300 years to identify the origin of the Ship. The coin treasure has resided beside Kynance Cove until 1973 when it was re-discovered by divers. Cob silver coins represent some of the first coins minted in the Spanish New World, from Mexico, Peru, Columbia and Bolivia, and were accepted as reliable silver currency worldwide.
