While the outside of the book is definitely worn, the pages are in shockingly wonderful condition.

This is a rare copy and the only other 2 copies I’ve been able to locate is the Library of Congress and the Morgan Museum.

This is the information I’ve been able to locate:

Alice Wonderland first edition, published by WB conkey company publishers, Chicago, 1885.

I scanned the original page from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, illustrated by John Tenniel. The book was published in 1885.

Based on the C W Conkey Publishing Company moving to Indiana in 1998 this book has the Chicago location printed in it but no date. The book would have been printed before 1898 in Chicago between 1877 and 1897 while C W Conkey was in Chicago, despite the Library of Congress using the donation date as the publishing date. I cannot find anything about this copy of Alice's Adventuress in Wonderland which also includes Flower Fables by Alcott (her first) The cover of the book has silver flowers on a gray cloth covered boards. The cover has a laid on lithograph for the picture of Alice as a girl maybe. The main story has 150 pages. Flower Fables is numbered weird but goes from 7-54. John Tenniel provided 42 wood engraved illustrations! 4 1/4" X 6 1/2"This is a nice book that has loose stitching at the spine. It has sections that are held together well and then stitched into spine. There are no markings except an embossed seal from a notary that has prior owner name on it on the first blank cover page. No other marks. There is overall foxing and some smudges here and there. All the many illustrations are wonderful and clear. The text block is clear for reading. Collectible book for sure. Rare Early American Printing. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (commonly shortened to Alice in Wonderland ) is an 1865 novel . Written by English author Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll

It tells of a girl named Alice who falls down a rabbit hole into a fantasy world populated by peculiar, anthropomorphic creatures. The tale plays with logic , giving the story lasting popularity with adults as well as children. [2 ] It is considered to be one of the best examples of the literary nonsense genre, [2 ][ 3] and its narrative course and structure, characters and imagery have been enormously influential [3 ] in both popular culture and literature, especially in the fantasy genre.
