Emmanuel is a highly interesting Australian artist. Trained as a young man under Rubbo and Ashton, he moved into commercial art in which he excelled. A versatile and insightful artist his subject matter included charming inner city buildings, particularly his home town Sydney, landscapes and in this etching the sea shore. There is a textural quality to Low Tide: the random placements of obsolete piers, the weathered boards of the buildings, boats laying on the shoreline, idle,  the trees forming a rhythmically balanced background, make for a superb picture. Human interest is created by the profusion of Lowry like people involved in the quintessential Australian activity of mucking around on the beach. A large etching… frame size 76 by 73 cm… image 45 by 30 cm… any questions answered promptly.
