This listing is for an antique 19th century amphora style porcelain bust of a Bavarian gentleman by Wittmann & Roth. It measures 11" high and is 8.5" across the shoulders. The bust shows a mustached gentleman wearing a floppy hat with a feather in it. He has a ruffled sleeve with a coat draped over his left shoulder with his pipe tucked in the pocket. His gaze is away from the viewer with a slight smile on his face. The piece has excellent attention to detail throughout. It is signed on the verso with an owl on a crescent in green over glaze. This is for Wittmann & Roth that was in business in London from 1870 to 1896. There are also the impressed numbers 1074.
The sculpture is in very good condition, there is a small flake to the back of the lower feather. Please see the many photographs for more on the look and condition of this handsome bust as they are an important part of the description.
