This listing is for PAIR of antique water color & ink(? Or engravings) portraits depicting Lady Emma Hamilton & one Other lady in fine clothing from the 19th century. Both are signed in pencil below the works, I have not identified the signature. The lady Hamilton one especially is in the style of the Romney work & later John Jones engraving. Perhaps these came before the Jones. The watercolor is hand painted with extreme skill. The black lines appear to be finely done etchings pressed from engravings. They are framed as a matching set in what I believe are the original antique frames. The design is excellent for many rooms and a large variety of decor styles. It makes this an excellent staple piece for your collection, one your friends definitely won’t have! A great collectors item, for use display gifting or decor.

Lady Emma Hamilton, aka Dame Emma Hamilton, was a famous figure in her day. Originally known upon moving to London as Emma Hart, and upon marriage as Lady Hamilton. She was an English maid, model, dancer and actress; beginning her career in London's demi-monde. She eventually became the mistress of a series of wealthy & prominent men; most notably the naval hero Lord Nelson. She was also, importantly to us, the favourite model and muse of the portraitist George Romney. Since they are a matching set, and one portrait is of so prominent a figure, I believe her counterpart must also be some important figure who I just have not been able to identify yet.

Both are in good condition, with no major damage or fading. One frame is missing a piece of veneer, otherwise very good shape for their age. See photos for details.. I have not removed either from the frame at all.
