This listing is for a Pair of Antique figural French(?) Spelter metal Neoclassical Greco-Roman Warrior & dog or hound Statues / sculptures. Likely made in the Late 19th to Early 20th Century. This is a hard to find and extremely desirable matching set, designed to stand out on the shelf, mantle, or table. I personally love how the hounds are posed- one is in the middle of barking at the other, who cowers away. A fun little detail added by the artist. They are not marked or signed by the artist that I have seen. Unfortunately these ones need some restoration, or could be left as is for a more gothic adams family look. They are extremely detailed and of quality make. The pair is excellent for many rooms, or a mantle, and a large variety of decor styles. It makes this an excellent staple piece for your collection, one your friends definitely won’t have! A great collectors item, for use display gifting or decor.

Both have damage from poor care & age. Unfortunately with spelter being the metal of choice for a lot of these kinds of statues, it is not a material that ages well even when cared for correctly. They both have cracking near hands & joints just from aging, which can be repaired. One has a missing arm but the hand is there- this could be repaired by sculpting or moulding a new one from clay or wood & painting the whole thing to disguise the repair. Both based have damage, one has a cracked dent, one just a crack. See photos for full details. The pair could be repainted, and repaired, to make them look new again, or left as is with the patina for the antique look.
