H. ALLEN SMITH publicity photo 1974 Putty Knife author

This is a black and white print featuring H. ALLEN SMITH, printed and distributed by Gale Research Co. in 1974. The photo was created for reference use and has been affixed to a piece of cardboard. PLEASE NOTE – it is not an actual glossy photo, it is a matte print (more subtle and neutral than a glossy). Moreover, it is a retired library piece that has been handled and utilized.

The picture measures approximately 7 x 9 inches, and the image shown is the actual picture, though the company logo has been mater-marked on it to prevent image theft (it doesn’t come like that, of course). The approximate measurement represents the actual dimension of the exposed image, though there may be a caption or short border surrounding it in most cases.

Harry Allen Wolfgang Smith was an American journalist and humorist whose books were popular in the 1940s and 1950s. He found fame when his humor book “Low Man on a Totem Pole” (1941) became a bestseller during WWII. He followed with “Life in a Putty Knife Factory” (1943), which became another bestseller, and “Lost in the Horse Latitudes “(1944).

My Policies:

We offer several different shipping options and accept Paypal (and we do indeed combine shipping). We take pride in carefully packaging purchases -- almost always in bubble-wrap and/or specially-made boxes...

Customer satisfaction rules, and making sure customers conclude a gratifying transaction is what we aim for at Glass Eye Industries. We’ve been executing appraisals, working with liquidators and buying estates for well over two decades; we’re confident we know what we’re doing and we price fairly, based on availability, collectible-value and demand. All of our items are guaranteed -- to the best of our knowledge -- to be authentic and licensed pieces. In fact, we go to great lengths to accurately photograph, research and describe the items we sell.

We are very diligent -- with people checking product on the way in and the way out; however, on occasion, minute imperfections are sometimes unavoidable (hence, refunds can only be given in cases of complete misrepresentation).

We take feedback seriously… if you encounter a problem with your Ebay item once it is received, please contact us before leaving negative or neutral comments, and we will work through the problem. We always combine shipping, as we too are buyers (just like you!). We realize that postage prices have gone up substantially, as have the price of high-quality mailing envelopes and packaging materials; our shipping prices reasonably reflect that inflation. Please do not criticize and/or give us low marks for our “shipping and handling charges” after buying. If you do not agree with the shipping charge, simply do not buy. It’ll make it much easier for both of us...
