Condition: In overall good condition with no tears, rips, holes, repairs, paint peelings or losses, some soiling on the corners (traces of glue) due to previous framing (invisible once re-framed), few light wrinkles consistent with the age and use.


Artist's Biography:

Uri Eliaz, Tel Aviv, Israel, 1931-2020

Uri Eliaz was born in Israel in 1931. His father was the poet Rafael Eliaz.
In high school he studied painting with Aharon Avni.
In 1947 he began studies at the “New Bezalel,” but he was forced to leave his studies when the War of Independence broke out.
He was drafted into the “Haganah” and was sent to Kibbutz Ayalon and Beit Alfa and was one of the founders of Kibbutz Nachshon, where he was a member until 1960.
He moved to Haifa, where he worked in designing sets and painting. He illustrated children's books and worked on theatre decor.
From 1968 occupied himself only with painting and sculpture.
He lived and worked in Old Jaffa.

Eliaz’s early work was in painting. His paintings were figurative and symbolic in nature and expressive in style.
In 1980 he began to cast sculptural assemblages of human images.
