Zenith (Gran Compe) Forged Quill Stem 25.4mm or 26.0mm Polished or Black

IMPORTANT: update May 2023 - this is the FINAL stock that VeloSolo will have of these, once they are gone they are gone!

Same as Dia Compe Gran Compe but un-branded!

  • ***IMPORTANT***  If unsure of sizing or compatibility or if this is the right stem for your bike please see: "IMPORTANT NOTES..." further down page BEFORE ordering!
  • As with Andel who make Surly cogs so it is with Zenith and Dia Compe - this is the exact same stem Zenith manufacture for Dia Compe but unbranded and logo free.
  • Sale is for ONE stem - bars, grip etc NOT included.
  • Not having a GC logo makes it around £10 - £15 less and superb value. These are  our best selling stem and fill the gap nicely between the Kalloy and Nitto stems.
  • Styling is very similar to the classic Cinelli 1A or Nitto Technomic. Manufacture is equally good being forged, with high quality machining and a very attractive polished or black anodized finish.
  • There is a large range of options - clamps in 25.4mm or 26.0mm, lengths in 60mm, 80mm or 100mm.
  • Quill is 22.2mm (standard 1") for threaded steerer. Angle is 73 deg.
  • Standard model in all sizes has a 130mm quill with max extension of 63mm. A longer quill (180mm with max extension of 113mm) is now available in 25.4mm x 80mm black and 26.0 x 80mm polished.
  • Example weight: 25.4mm x 100mm = 305g.
  • Perfect for fixed wheel builds or classic road bikes, this is our best selling stem and very well reviewed.
  • Please see our ebay FAQ for handlebar size info and lots more.

NOTE: other items (bars etc) shown for illustration only and NOT included.

This sale is for ONE stem, please see other listings for lots more items including bars, shims and stems.

IMPORTANT NOTES ON BICYCLE STEM FITTING:

We only sell quill stems in 1" (this is the common standard fitting in the UK and internationally for most bikes with threaded forks and this is unchanged since the 1960's and before).  These stems are not for use with bolt-on (A-head) non-threaded steerers.

The 1" refers to the outer diameter of the fork steerer.  It does NOT refer to the diameter of the quill which is give or take a fraction = 22.2mm.

The 25.4mm referenced in the sale is the clamp size that fits a 25.4mm handlebar ONLY.

The bicycle world has always mixed imperial and metric in this way since bikes were invented!

The only other common (and non-BMX) sizes for quill stems (and relatively rare) are the French (25mm = 22.0mm quill diameter) and the oversize which uses a 1 1/8" steerer (1" or 25.4mm quill) and was generally found only on MTBs for a short time around the late 80's/early 90's.  There were also some 1 1/4" stems on some early MTBs - very rare too.

If unfamiliar with bicycle component sizing a great place to learn more is to Google 'Sheldon Brown headset crib' for dimensions of stem QUILLS and 'Sheldon Brown stem crib' for dimensions of handlebar CLAMPS.
