Here is just a little  extra info on dial and beam type torque wrench's

           The nice thing about dial and beam type torque wrench's is that you can see your torque as you approach your target torque, also if you have multiple settings / torques on the same assembly you don't have to reset the wrench each time, and you don't have to set the wrench back to its lowest setting just put it away when your done. Another feature is that you can check the ROTATING TORQUE like as when building an engine as you  put the pistons in you can tell if your going to have a problem binding just check each one as you install if torque is 5 lbs on the first one it should be about 10 on the second and about 15 on the 3rd and on up the line, this is a very good way to keep from having a comeback.   They are also great for setting up a limited slip posi differential, just make a adapter to go on the axle and hold the pinion ( Sturtevant beam style works best as it has no geared movement inside like a dial type does) and torque on the axle. I like using one when using a torque multiplier kind of fun to know what it takes to break some thing lose, when using a torque multiplier you can't really  feel how tight your getting the fastener

Quality Torque tools / wrenches are a  must when assembling anything not just race engines or aircraft ,  when a bolt is tightened it applys "clamping force"  if to little the parts can shift and or the bolt becomes lose,  if  to tight you can get warpage and broken parts including the bolt or striped threads too,   in our shop we see all types of problems caused by not applying the proper torque.
