Description

KCA Cable Black 1/0 Gauge Power Wire - 20Ft

20 Feet - KCA Kable Power / Ground Wire consists of over sized, 34 gauge stranded, copper clad aluminum (CCA) conductors. The KCA Kable has been over sized by design to offset the higher resistance of CCA compared to an OFC cable. So you get equal performance and at sizable savings

Exceeding American Wire Gauge standards, our cables have been tested against their OFC counterparts. Under similar loads, our KCA cable performed nearly identical to higher priced copper products. By using a larger amount of our CCA conductor, we can achieve similar performance at nearly 50% savings versus an OFC cable. CCA overall provides a cost effective solution to most audio systems.

The KCA Cable features an ultra flex matte PVC jacket that makes it bend to any radius and stable in temperatures from -40C to 105C. Colors available include Black, Blue, and Red - This listing is ONLY for Black!

Beware of imitation cables that are more jacket then conductor, be sure to see or obtain cross section measurements or pictures.

Price is per 20 foot increment - Ordering a quantity of 3 will get you a 60 foot continuous length of cable.

Additional Information

Plain and Simple Specifications

All KnuKonceptz Cable Products clearly state these specifications

  • Wire type - CCA or OFC
  • These materials are commonly used, but not commonly stated when shopping online. Know what you are purchasing. Both metals are capable of performing up to their rated loads.
  • American Wire Gauge
  • Wire gauge is crucial to powering your system correctly. Undersized cable will create unsafe conditions and may shorten your amplifier's life.
  • Max Load (amps)
  • Wire's ampacity changes with gauge and materials. KnuKonceptz does not rate cable based on watts. Amplifier manufactures do not always truthfully state the output of their product, check your on board fuses!

True American Wire Gauge (AWG) Products

  • Using American Wire Gauge standards, the gauge of stranded wire is determined by the total area of the conductor.
  • To calculate this you would take the area of each strand and add it together. This area, in square mm, then determines gauge.
  • Diameter is not as critical with stranded wire, this is due to the tiny air gaps between each strand. Diameter may fluctuate with strand size and how tightly wound the rope of the cable is.
  • The smaller the number, the larger the wire, until you reach zero or aught (0). From zero, you then have double aught (00 or 2/0), three aught (000 or 3/0) ...
  • Based on AWG, the true gauge of this cable is just under 2/0 spec

Copper Clad Aluminum - Best Value

  • For nearly 50% less cost, you can achieve similar current capacity of OFC
  • Always follow the manufacture's max rating on battery cable.
  • Excessive loads will cause more distortion in amplifiers, create more heat, and will shorten the life of your electronics.
  • Proper termination is crucial for an increased life span. CCA is not recommended for Marine or UTV applications.

Product FAQ

Q: Can this power wire be used as ground wire too?
A: Yes, there is no physical difference between power or ground cable. We do recommend using two different color wires to differentiate between positive and negative connections though.

Q: Why is this aluminum wire copper in color?
A: Copper Clad Aluminum is 90% Aluminum, 10% Copper. The copper is plated over top the aluminum to prevent oxidation and offer a slight increase in conductivity. CCA will appear copper from the side view of the wire. If you view the cross section (look straight at the end) you will see the center of the strands is silver in color, confirming the cable is aluminum
