1 fabric panel with 20 grab-it pieces featuring a DOG wearing a bandana.  All of the pieces have the same design.

These fabric pieces are of a mid-weight cotton/poly and come from an East Coast Company which makes microwave potholders. Each of the grab-it pieces measures approximately 5.25"W x 3.75"H.

DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO MAKE THE MICROWAVE POTHOLDER:

(Photo 2) You will need a heat resistant piece of fabric.  Cotton is heat-resistant so a couple of layers of cotton batting stitched together will work and then you will want to face it with the color of your potholder.  In my case it was black.   The measurements of the fabric are approximately 9.5" long by 5.25" wide and the corners are rounded to match the grab-it pieces that you cut out.  The photo shows the front and back of the heat-resistant material that I used.

(Photo 3) I purchased black quilted fabric (poly batting in it) at JoAnns.  I would have preferred the black outer fabric only on one side, but it works with black on both sides.  You need one piece that will be attached to your heat-resistant fabric and 2 smaller ones that back the grab-it fabric pieces.

(Photo 4)  Attach the poly batting fabric to the heat-resistant backing, suggest a zigzag stitch.  Attach the decorative grab-it fabric (dogs in this case) to the quilted poly backing by running a piece of bias tape on the straight edge of the fabric pieces.

(Photo 5)  Attach the decorative small pieces to the backing using a zigzag stitch and then run a piece of bias tape around the outside to finish off the potholder.
