Description
Alfagrog ceramic filter media is a porous, foamed material that is lightweight, strong, and inert. Its high surface area makes it an ideal choice for micro organisms in biological filtration systems resulting in cleaner water.
The key to effective biological filtration is choosing media with the highest surface area possible to allow beneficial bacteria to colonize and remove waste from the water. Alfagrog media has an extremely high surface area by volume in comparison to other types of filter media.
This lightweight rock has other uses, including, being used as decorative aquatic gravel, aquarium landscaping and much more.
