HANS UND FRITZ  DIRKS  1917 SAALFIELD  193 ON BACK  DOES NOT MATCH OVERSTREET!!!

Please take a look at all the pcis and ask questions.  This copy is dated 1917 on the cover and 1916 inside. No other dates appear on this book. It does have the 193 on the back cover.  But all strips are titled Hans und Fritz. No strip is titled Kaztenjammer Kids. That is used only to ID R. Dirks. And all are credited to Dirks. There are no Hawkshaw strips in this book. So this does not match the description of the later printing as noted in Overstreet.  Also, the interior of this book is 32 pages, 36 if you count the cover. The book appears to be intact at 32 interior pages. Overstreet says it is 28 pages, so 24 interior pages plus covers. The likely problem here is that Overstreet is incorrect with regard to this book in at least two aspects, not too surprising since other errors and omissions exist in Overstreet.

As for condition, the books has surface wear and some creasing. Some spine wear and abrasion. But it is intact.  One centerfold staple is popped but cf is holding. Cover is holding as well. Not a bad copy at all, all things considered. Cover has some creasing and some scratches. Also, a number of pages are colored. Some more completely than others. Some more heavily than others. More than half the book, but the last 12 pages are not colored. Based on the cover, it looks as though it was meant to be colored.
