Copper Information:
Copper has been used for over 10,000 years, predating written records by thousands of years. Copper was used by the Romans who obtained their Copper from the island of Cyprus. The name Copper is derived from the Latin word cyprium which comes from the country name Cyprus.

Large deposits of copper ore are located in the Canada, Chile, Peru, the United States of America, Zaire and Zambia.

Copper reacts easily with the Oxygen in air forming a beautiful patina with dark browns to rich deep greens which many prefer to a bright Copper finish.

To clean Copper, there are many commercially available products. An at-home product that seems to work just fine is toothpaste. A generous amount of tooth paste can be put on the Copper and allowed to stand for 10-15 minutes. Luke warm water with a soft bristle toothbrush can usually remove the tarnish. Depending upon the amount of patina, it may take several applications of toothpaste and brushing.

We recommend that you store your Copper piece within an air-tight container with a piece of anti-tarnish paper.
