Fixes
most moving coil tachometers where the electronics have tired, died,
fried or just don't cut the mustard with the new flashy electronic
ignition or ECU
- All new electronics replaces old circuit board ( includes 2019 updates)
- Based on the LM2917 tachometer chip but with Spiyda's own additions
- High quality ceramic capacitors for much longer life and temperature stability than other designs
- The board is fitted in a separate plastic case for mounting outside the tachometer
- NOTE, the moving coil part of the tachometer must be in working order for this module to work
see our FAQ for more information https://www.spiyda.com/magento/index.php/faq
This module replaces all the tachometer electronics but mounts externally
If your classic car has had electronic ignition fitted and you tacho won't play ball, this will solve the problem
Uniquely, this unit can be calibrated from a PC, Laptop, iPhone etc. using the calibration cable supplied
- No need to install software, just a play simple wav file.
- This new (August 2014) design is voltage triggered and will drive RVI, RVC and most other moving coil movements.
- Known to work with Smiths RVI and RVC tachometers (made by smiths but also fitted to fords, nissans etc.) Veglia Borletti, Stewart Warner, but will also work with many others, in fact so far with all moving coil tachometers we have encountered.
- Converts Positive earth units to Negative earth
- Converts 4,6 8 or 10 Cyl units to 4,6 8 or 10 Cyl
- 22 turn calibration adjustment suitable for movement coils from 10 to 500 Ohms 10 to 100mA fsd
- New design can be driven by Coil -ve connection, 12V or 5V square wave or TTL.. in fact almost anything between 1.5 and 100V
- Can be driven from "W" terminal on alternator.
- Reverse polarity protected
- Over voltage protected
- Approved by Accuspark, 123Ignition, Powerspark.
Other information
- The
board inside the module is a tried and tested design and taken directly
from a batch of boards designed to fit inside a Smiths RVC tachometer
case and with the minimum modifications made to fit it inside a plastic
case. We have been asked by many customers would our original design
work with their (non Smiths) tacho.. well, up til now it was a maybe..
A couple of modifications to our existing design give this module a
much greater range of output adjustment and allow it to work on a wider
range of inputs.. so now the answer is almost certainly !
- Five connections via terminal blocks
- The calibration cable plugs into the headphone socket of the computer
- The
product is the case with circuit board all the electronics on it, it
does not include the tachometer or D'Asonval style movement.
- The appearance of the actual circuit board may vary as we continually make improvements.
- The case is approx 70 x 37 x 21mm
