Here is a short improvisational work for solo alto recorder, written by me, Linda Swope.  I am an oboist and recorder player, and a composer...so naturally I like to write for my own favorite instruments.  This piece is not difficult, but will challenge the recorder player's technique a bit.  Sometimes we need that, as most of our ensemble music tends to be sight-readable.  Sometimes we just want something we can bite into, and perform in recital.  Something a bit more special...this piece fills that need.  Ancient Dance can be played solo, but if you wish to add a light chordal background, I added basic chords above the measures where the chords would change, and a guitarist (or folk harpist, harpsichordist, autoharpist, lute player, or even mandolinist - an early string instrument sound) can fill in the background.  Early music of folk nature often left room for the performer's imagination, and this piece does that also.  You may choose your own tempo - the piece is lovely played slowly, and played more rapidly, it sounds more gypsy-like.  Your music will arrive bound in hard stock cover and signed by me, the composer.  Shipping is $3.50 in the U.S. via first class, or overseas, $7.00.  See my other listings of original recorder music, other sheet music, choir music, scores, music books, etc.  You may combine to save a lot on shipping.  Just let me know what you are interested in, and I will combine them and bill the shipping by weight via media rate.  Thanks for looking!  Keep practicing!
